Preparation for Installation

At AQUOSYS, we not only manufacture premium GRP water tanks, but also provide full support for proper installation to ensure structural integrity, long-term performance, and safe operation. Below are our standard recommendations for preparing the site, concrete base foundation, and clearance requirements—especially suited for East African building environments.

Base Concrete Foundation Requirements

The foundation work must be completed before tank delivery and installation, and must adhere to the following criteria:

  • Responsibility: The client is responsible for constructing the base foundation in line with AQUOSYS specifications.

  • Structural Integrity: The ground must be stable and compacted, capable of supporting the full weight of the tank when filled with water.

  • Concrete Strength: Use concrete with a minimum compressive strength of 180 kg/cm² to ensure durability under constant load.

  • Surface Leveling:

    • The top surface must be level, with a plastered finish.

    • Mortar thickness should be no more than 20mm to avoid cracking or uneven weight distribution.

Standard Base Concrete Dimensions

ComponentSpecification
Width300 – 400 mm
HeightOver 600 mm (including base frame)
Horizontal ToleranceLess than 1/50 slope (flat horizontal)
Outer DimensionsTank dimensions + 400 mm (extra margin)
Spacing Between BeamsLess than 1 meter

These standards are essential to ensure the base frame sits evenly, and the tank load is distributed uniformly, preventing structural failure or leakage over time.

Piping & Nozzle Considerations

  • Nozzle Locations:
Clients must specify the inlet, outlet, overflow, and drain nozzle positions and diameters at the time of placing the tank order.

  • Custom Assembly:
AQUOSYS will pre-install the specified nozzles on the tank panels, but all external piping connections and plumbing are to be performed by the client or their appointed contractor.

  • Connection Responsibility:
The client is responsible for ensuring proper sealing and pressure testing of all connected pipes to avoid backflow or leakage.

Installation Clearance Requirements

To ensure accessibility for maintenance, repairs, and inspections, we recommend the following minimum clearance around the tank:

SideMinimum Space Required
From Side WallsAt least 600 mm
From Ceiling/RoofAt least 1,000 mm

Example Installation Space Requirement
For a tank of size 3m (W) x 4m (L) x 2m (H):

  • Minimum room size required: 3.6m (W) x 4.4m (L) x 3m (H)

This extra space allows for manhole access, panel tightening, internal inspection, and future upgrades if needed.

Why Proper Installation Matters

  • Prevents leaks, panel deformation, and tank failure

  • Ensures warranty validity

  • Supports hygienic and long-lasting water storage

  • Avoids costly retrofits or reinforcements down the line
